According to an article in today's Chicago Sun Times the Port Authority is setting up a password protected web site for victims families to view the transcripts, there was no decision whether the general public will also have access. |

The news media argued in a lawsuit that the transcripts are a public record, while the port authority claimed they were not. A New Jersey judge, in ordering their release, did not directly rule on that issue. She instead said that the port was required to release the transcript on the basis of an out-of-court settlement, which she said is a binding contract. I have not been able to find a copy of that out-of-court settlement, so I don't know whether it requires the release of the transcripts of anyone other than the news media. However, you (or a Researcher who would like to answer the question) could probably find out by going to the following page: http://www.panynj.gov/rfframe.HTM |
