Hello narnia-ga, and thank you for posting a question on a very
interesting topic.

I have looked at a number of papers and discussions on internet
classification schemes.  While they generally acknowledge that the
internet poses considerable new challenges regarding classification, I
did not come across anyone who was of the opinion that the internet
absolutely defies classification.

Here are links and brief excerpts from some of the papers I came
