Hi, I have been reviewing some of the technical operations of www.UniversityResource.com and I have found the usership statistics are somewhat unusual. I am hoping to reach an expert in web site management to better understand the statistics below. I have of course seen the definitions for the metrics discussed. The question in my mind is, how can their be more "Sites" then there are "Visitors". I had understood and had it confirmed by the web host service provider (123eHost.com) that a Visitor is a distinct individual session on the web site. and that a "Site" was a distinct originating IP address. From this I would have thought that if there are 8500 distinct IP addresses there must be at least 8500 visitors, but that is not the case, there are only 1100 visitors??????? Many Thanks, Martin Holmes Director University Resource Aug 2003 Sites KBytes Visits Pages Files Hits 9092 1122373 1198 2184 180000 257482 |
