I've been trying to figure out the name of a song that a class
performed to at one of my dance recitals a few years ago. I think the
song is called "Big Time" and it's upbeat and jazzy. The first few
counts of the song begin with drum beats (I believe bass drum). The
song is sung by a female singer and could possibly be from a musical.

Some lines from the song (they may not be 100% accurate):
"You say you've got the goods to make it big time... and then he
puffed on his cigar..."
"you'll make a killing, you'll get top billing... I'm gonna make you a
star!"
"Get to the big time MUNI (?), big time bus"
"...let's do lunch... give me that 1-2 punch"

Hi Corncake,

Yes, you're right! The song is called “Big Time” and the artist is
“Linda Elder”. The song can be found on Linda's album “It's Time”.

Here you'll find the lyrics to “Big time” - if you click on “Song
Clip” you'll hear a (Realplayer) sample of the song:

I hope this helps!

Hi corncake,
I am very pleased you found my answer helpful!
"Big Time" is from Linda's 3rd solo album "It's Time" - it was never
actually a part of a musical. I apologize for not making this clear
before. I emailed the Ederfan.com website just to confirms this, and i
also came across this posting on the rec.arts.theatre.musicals
newsgroup:
Gary Griffiths asks: "Who wrote it? Is it from a show? Is it actually
called 'Big Time'?"
Sng2nz reponds: "Frank Wildhorn. No, it's not from a show. It is
from Linda Eder's CD, "It's Time." And yes, it is called "Big Time."

My apologies also to Linda Eder for spelling her surname "Elder"
instead of "Eder" - sorry, Linda ;-)
