The DNS system uses the URL typed into a browser to resolve domain
names to internet servers. If someone types in a URL that doesn't
exist (try www.hjlkhl123.com), they get a "Domain Not Found" error. I
would like a website or service that provides me with a list of the
most common non-existent URLs typed into browsers. The information
would probably be determined by using DNS server logs of a large ISP.
It should be sorted by popularity.

I've tried looking at many different domain name registration sites
but I'm looking for more than just a service to find a particular
domain name (active-domain.com) or even a service that makes up domain
names based on keywords (nameboy.com).

A snapshot of this list would be acceptable but it would be preferable
for it to be updated on a regular basis.

entelechy,

As pretty much all of the "good" domain names were snatched up two
years ago, there are only two types of unregistered domains that will
generate significant traffic: those which predict future fads or news,
or those unregistered domains that were registered domains until very
recently, and thus have a proven traffic flow.

If you know for a fact that a craze of playing bingo using rubber
duckies is going to sweep the world very shortly, you can probably
make big money reserving the domain rubberduckybingo.com right now,
but for those who cannot see the future, the latter is the only
recourse. In this case, we do not need to rely on specific ISP logs
for your information. We can get this by combining information
regarding domains that have expired or are about to expire with a
domain ranking popularity service, such as Alexa.com.

Would you accept an answer based on such information, plus information
on how you can generate such lists for yourself going forward?

The erroneous phrase "two years ago" above should read just "years
ago". My apologies for any confusion I may have inadvertantly caused.
