Hi All

I'd like to travell between Stuttgart (germany) and Agen (france) as cheap as
possible. (and of course as fast as possible). I need to visit family. Typicaly
i plan to travel on weekends and weekends connected with red letter days. Please
give me all possible info:
- schedules and web sites with bus and plane connections (like ryanair.com)
- discounts for train, bus, plane + how to exploit them as much as possible
- hitchhikers sites (like www.mitfahrzentrale.de)
- car rental services somewhere in france
etc.

The destiantion Agen is not necessarilly fixed. I can be driven/picked up from
(for instance) an airport which is about 1 hour far away from Agen by car.
Destination Stuttgart is fixed!

Be ready for additional questions (clarifications) wich will be tiped
according to quality of content

EOF & thanx

Bost

hello bost:

The best website I have seen for german cheap flights is
http://www.billiger-fliegen.de/

Now I checked to see if there are any connections from Stuggart to
Agen and there wasn't, you could fly to Toulouse with air france or
Lufthansa and they would cost about €300, or less than $340 USD.

Flying to Bordeaux with air france would be a slightly cheaper option.

Both toulouse and Bordeaux are about 2 hours away from Agen.

You could go the route of trains, check http://www.bahn.de/ but you
will be talking over a day's travel.

hope that helps you,
pppp

Hi PPPP

to clarify my request:
I visit family during weekends - i dont need to be there on time, i dont make
business trips. the prise is the most important for me! In average one travell by
train takes me about 14 - 15 hours and costs about 130 - 150 Euro. I can afford a
night spend in train (or bus) but the prise is too high for me

Ok in the case the best and cheapest way to go is by train.

Get the train from stuggart to Paris and then Paris you can go to
Bordeaux and on to Agen (http://www.beyond.fr/map/tgv_france.html)

for train times and online booking got the french part (agen to paris,
which takes about 4 hours ) go to http://www.sncf.com/indexe.htm) and
for the german part (Paris to Stuttgart book online with
http://www.dbahn.de/).

some notes :
There are sleeping waggons on all/most of these trains.
You won't be able to book the traion journey all the way through.
Agen to Bordeaux takes just over 1 hour
Bordeaux to Paris takes just over 3 hours
French part costs about $70 one way
Paris to Stuttgart takes around 6.5 hours
I can't get a price but it should be lower than $100 for the trip.

hth,
pppp

For car-sharing (Mitfahrzentrale) see:

http://www.mitfahrzentrale.de/title.php?abfrg=1&partner=&START=Stuttgart&ZIEL=&STARTLAND=D&ZIELLAND=F&abdat=&abstd=&abmin=&submbut=Mitfahrerinserate

This is probably the most inexpensive way to travel. I would rank
after that, a car rental (from a small company, not "Budget",
Eurocar), and only then - trains or planes.
