I am looking for the Average Annual Spend on Intimate Apparel by
American Women shoppers in the Department and Specialty store retail
channels (these two channels together, and specifically excluding Mass
(Target, Wal-Mart, etc.)and Discount channels).

In order to get per capita spend, I would suggest dividing the total
spend by the number of females in the country.

The comment above is well taken. However, Carmen wanted annual spent
figures in a department store and specialty stores of those women who
actually spent the money there.

These are the sort of figures that are arrived at through questioning
actual customers that that shop at this stores, via market research.
Although, these might exist, they tend to be less accurate than the
numbers that come through accounting data of sales companies.

The best way to arrive at what Carmen wanted is to get the
distribution of women who buy intimate apparel at the various types of
stores, and then divide the total revenues above by these. The problem
is that these distribution I was not able to get either, in the
sources that I have access to, once I knew that this is what in fact
she wanted.

Unfortunately, in this case, I feel it was not clear that the Annual
Spending figures she wanted she needed were per person, which makes a
whole lot of difference.  I agree that there was confusion, which is
why I thought she would be better off getting a refund.  I suppose she
didn't agree.  It's all up to her.

actually a researcher though, so I don't really know what the
interface looks like).
