I keep getting fatal exception OD error at 0000 0000FF00 when
attempting to use Umax Astra 1220p scanner any idea on cause and fix

please let us know your operating system (I guess win XP). 
If your operating system is Win XP , you probably have a driver
problem, do you accept as an answer a link that let you download the
proper driver?

my operating system is windows 98 and I would be happy with a download
for the correct driver

Hello, I am still working on your question.

Before change the driver, can you tell if you are using McAfee
Antivirus and in the affirmative what happens if you disable the
antivirus and try to use the scanner?

I have tried suspending  operations such as virus and other programs
working in the back ground also reloaded windows 98 (Without totally
clearing memory) with the same result.Thanks for the efforthope this
will help.
