dated May 26, 2003 the U.S. insect repellent market is estimated at
$200 million.
The leading brand of insect repellent of insect repellent is Off!. The
second leading brand is Cutter, followed by Repel in third place.
Two industry sources estimated that the U.S. insect repellent market
is about $200 million and growing, thanks to the attention paid to the
recent outbreak of West Nile virus and the ongoing threat of Lyme
disease.
Three other brands of bug spray have a bigger market share than
Ultrathon by 3M in the United States; the market-share leader is
Off!, made by S.C. Johnson & Son Inc. of Racine, Wis., and followed by
Cutter and Repel, brands owned by St. Louis-based United Industries
Corp.
