Who is the original manufacturer of the MicroMV Recorder seen in the attached links? (I need the info of the company that makes and sells the recorder to "spy, security & surveillance shops"). - Name, address, telephone number, www, etc. http://www.homelandsecuritysource.com/recorder.html http://www.spyresearch.com/minirecorderpage.html http://www.4spi.com/new_products_from_spi.htm http://www.videoglasses.com/digitalrecorder.html | |

It is my opinion that this item has to be either knock off, debadged Sony DCR-IP5 (or the more expensive IP7E), or a modified DCR-IP5. You cannot argue that the pictures are strikingly alike one another. Compare: http://www.cornerspyshop.com/spycamera.htm [Sony DCR-IP7E] http://www.epinions.com/pr-Camcorders_Sony_DCR_IP7E_Micro_MV_Tape_Camcorder_DCR_IP7E/display_~full_specs [Sony DCR-IP17E] With: http://www.4spi.com/new_products_from_spi.htm [XXX-2002] Look at the face of the LCD and the lettering. Also notice the bump where the LCD pivots is EXACTLY the same in contour and shape as the DCR-IP7E. The only thing missing is the Sony logo at the bottom of the LCD (debadged) and the large lens at the top. You will also notice that the pictures are from different angles and make the camera seem smaller (in the apparent knock off or debadged version). Additionally these items were released in Asia (Singapore) before the US and might possibly have had a different shape or camera mechanism and it might be a possibility these are one of the MANY debadged or knock off items that come from this part of the world (modified and re-sold). See: http://news.com.com/2100-1040-273303.html?legacy=cnet&tag=mn_hd Also notice that Sony does sell generic goods (look at bottom): http://www.sel.sony.com/SEL/consumer/ss5/pin.shtml Here is a link to some generic electronics: http://sotechs.com/eTronics/gadgets.cfm/electronic/4444 http://sotechs.com/eTronics/electronics.cfm/gadgets/sondcrip5dkit/ [Sony DCR-IP5] http://www.pcworld.com/reviews/article/0,aid,102896,00.asp [Sony DCR-IP5] Also very important to note are the dimensions, weight, and color. Please let me know if this has helped any with regards to your question. Thank you. |
