I live in North London and have a one metre steerable antenna and an Echostar Analogue/Digital satellite receiver. What Indian channels (any Indian language at all) can I receive via satellite (or cable for that matter) - either free to view or by paid subscription. I don't need much detail, just what channel and where I can get it (which satellite or cable operator) and whether or not I will have to pay. Thanks! |

Both the following satellites carry Indian TV channels: http://www.lyngsat.com/hotbird.shtml (for instance 10949 V, 12476 H) and http://www.lyngsat.com/28east.shtml The "28east" satellites carry the Sky Digital Package http://www.lyngsat.com/dig/skyuk.shtml with several Indian TV channels. Further details on these channels (transmitted by Sky) are given here: http://skydigital.mediabullet.co.uk/index.php?page=epg3 Your steerable antenna might receive further satellites with Indian TV. This depends on the unobstructed line of sight between your location and the satellite. I suppose that there is only a single cable operator in your area. Should this be NTL digital, here is a list of their programmes: http://www.mediauk.com/directory/tv/index.html?platform=NTL+Digital |

I can also add in information about Telewest. Where cable is available in London it is either NTL or Telewest (they never overlap). Telewest offer the following 'Asian' channels... B4U movies which shows Bollywood movies. Sony Entertainment Television which provides Hindi family entertainment. Star News - asian news and events coverage. Star News - drama, games shows, comdey and threillers. Zee TV - tenertainment, drama, education and some Bollywolld classics. See http://www.telewest.co.uk/html/television/asianpack.htm To see what cable service is availble in your area follow the links from... http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/cable/inmyarea/ Satallite (sky) covers all of UK as well. There are also Digital terrestial but this carries only British stations. Stewart Dean |
