Hi usis,
I have located a directory which might suit your needs although I'm
not sure how comprehensive it is. Perhaps if you gave a few examples
of the companies you are seeking, I could do a "test drive" with the
site I have found.
Alternatively, you might want to post the companies here and let us
find the websites (if they indeed do have websites).

Hello,
There are a number of databases and directories that can be searched
by company name, and that will return one or more email addresses.
Since any sizable company can easily have hundreds or thousands of
email addresses, it would help us to know what sort of contact you are
interested in for your companies: a general information contact?
webmaster? technical contact? customer service? etc.
Also, are you expecting to search the directory/database one company
at a time to access an email address? I hope so, because full-fledged
downloadable databases of directory information are hard to come by.

I did try addreses.com and had partial success. However, in many
cases, I was unable to find the website. I do not want to post even a
subset of the companies I am looking for, so it seems we are stuck. I
am willing to look up companies one at a time. I do not want and
automated search. I thank you all for all your hard work on this.

Hello again,
Without having some actual company names to search for, it's difficult
to know if any of the available options will meet your needs. It may
well be that you will have to rely on a combination of search sites --
addresses.com and a few others -- in order to get the information you
are seeking.
Here are a few you should try:
http://www.superpages.com/
This Yellow Pages type of site will return email addresses and URLs
when available. Select the state you want to search for, or click the
"Nationwide Search" tab to search the entire US.
http://www.whois.sc/search/advanced.html
This Whois search can often return a lot of information, including
URLs and emails. Enter the company name in the "Words to Search For"
box.
http://www.arin.net/
ARIN offers a different universe of information for conducting a Whois
search. Enter the company name in the box at the top of the page, and
click on "Search Whois". You'll probably get numerous results --
click on the one's that look good for more information.
Give these sources a try, please, and then let us know how well they
work for you. If you can provide details as to why they DIDN'T work
-- what types of information were you unable to find, and for what
types of companies -- then perhaps I can suggest some additional
sources to try.
