I am using a Netgear FVS318. Can I use the Intel Netstructure VPN Client to establish a VPN tunnel? If so what settings do I use, if not what other client can I use? |

Howdy fariateam, From the Netgear website. http://www.netgear.com/support/faqs/N100721-23_30_33_46_47.asp "The FVS318 supports the Safenet (Soft-PK, SoftRemote) client, available at www.safenet-inc.com. This is the only client that we support, But we do have setup documents for most of the major VPN Clients software." Here is the SafeNet page where you can purchase SoftRemote. It appears they no longer sell the Soft-PK software package. http://www.safenet.biz/prod/software/software_a.asp "SafeNet SoftRemoteŽ is the next generation of remote access client software and offers unparalleled extended features to remote access users connecting to the corporate VPN." SoftRemote costs $149.00. You can always try Netgear's Premium Support. http://www.netgear.com/support/premium/index.html "What are the Premium Networking Support Service rates? - Per Incident - $28.95" Yep, I know that one can buy the FVS318 for under $120, that is, less than the SafeNet software, but it appears that others have tried using the Intel VPN Client with mixed results at best. Looking Forward, denco-ga |

Howdy fariateam, Well, you could always try a higher price, but it appears the Netgear FVS318 is just not all that fun to setup for VPN. In other words, if an easy or straight forward solution was out there, one of us researchers should have found it by now. With Netgear only supporting SoftRemote, the two "solutions" I provided (going through Netgear Premium Support with no guarantee of a solution, or buying the SoftRemote software) might be the only alternatives you have at this point. You can try reviewing this message thread at the Tek-Tips website forums area, as it has some general tips, and it might provide some further resources. http://www.tek-tips.com/gviewthread.cfm/lev2/5/lev3/34/pid/463/qid/562178 You might check out this Netgear Windows 2000 documentation as well, from a Netgear site. ftp://downloads.netgear.com/files/netgear1/FVS318_W2K.zip denco-ga |
