I am looking for completely on-line courses leading to an "Associate's
Degree in Medical Assisants." This is for young women in the country
of Belize, not the U.S., but the degree could certainly be from a U.S.
accredited institution. The equivalent of a high-school diploma could
be required.

Hello davidlsmith-ga!

I have found a number of accredited institutions with online programs
in which one can obtain a degree as a medical assistant. However,
though coursework is available online, completing clinical hours is an
integral part of the training and those are "real practice" hours that
are done in addition to online courses. Is that acceptable for you?
Please advise. Thank you!

I don't know how the young ladies in question would be able to come to
the US to do any clinical hours; if this is an absolute requirement,
then apparently such a degree is not available to them. I will clarify
my question by stating that the degree should be available without
having to come to the US, but there is a physician licensed in both
the US and Belize who could provide clinical supervision. The degree
should be available with the collaboration of this doctor. This doctor
(Wiley A. Smith MD) is board-certified in family practice. His e-mail
address is WSmithMD@aol.com . Thanks.

Yes, Keiser College seems to be what my brother (Dr. Wiley Smith in
Belize) was looking for. He has corresponded by e-mail with Keiser
College. Many thanks for your help; I think the question can now be
closed unless you have further helpful info. Thanks, David L. Smith
MD

Dr. Smith,

I'm glad that this information is proving useful for both you and your
brother and hope that it will benefit well the young women you spoke
of in your question. May I post the information as an official answer
to your question?

Many thanks,
Boquinha

In my research, I keep finding information on one program/college in
particular and they have a note that those applying from countries
outside of the US and Canada should contact them directly for specific
information. Except for that caveat, they seem to fit all of your
other requirements.

(this is the information about the program) Students set up their own
clinical sites, so that is appears to be a positive for what you've
described.

more information)

I hope this information is helpful to you. Please let me know if I can
be of any further assitance. Also, perhaps one of the other
researchers has more specific information for your situation. Good
luck!

thank you, Mr. boquinha-ga. At this point Keiser College appears to
have the type of program we are looking for. I have sent their
admissions office an e-mail requestinog further info, as they mention.
