Question ID: 253316
I have two photo albums from the early 1960s whose covers must be
replaced. The pages are 11 1/2 inches by 14 inches, and are fastened
together (and to the covers) by two Philips-style threaded screws,
which are spaced 2 1/2 inches from the top and bottom. Any ideas about
where new covers may be purchased?

Hi there mccook~

Do you know who the manufacturer of your photo albums was? This may be
useful information, since they might still be in business.

Kriswrite-ga: Thanks for your assistance. No, I am afraid I can't be
of assistance on the manufacturer. No sign of a brand and no memory in
the family about where they specifically came from. The great
likelihood is that they were purchased in Watertown or perhaps
Greenwich, Connecticut, and almost certainly in 1963-1964. I've made a
cursory search of stationers in my neighborhood (Upper West Side,
Manhattan) and don't see anything held together by two screws and
nuts, as described. The comment that I try B&H is a good one; they
have a very comprehensive selection of everything, but failing this I
wonder whether vintage albums of this style can be found anywhere.
Thanks again for the help and good luck! mccook-ga

This may be a start. In looking up an answer to your question, I'm
finding that there are a lot of variables and perhaps you may have
more information available to you on the actual albums themselves.
This site also claims to have a live help feature, but it isn't
currently working for me.

Hi Mccook!

I'm not posting this as an official Answer, because I can't be
positive that this source will be useful to you. However, Pioneer
makes photo albums held together by screws. I suggest emailing them at
the address given at the bottom of their homepage (
http://www.pioneerphotoalbums.com ): Pioneer@pioneerphotoalbums.com

Give them as many specifics (including measurements) as possible.

If they can't help you, I feel doubtful that you'll be able to find
new covers. BUT some smarter Researcher may very well come along and
prove me wrong!

Many thanks for your help. It looks like a comprehensive site. I'll
send them an e-mail right away. You're very kind to find this for me.
