Question ID: 253551
I have yet to be able to receive and send email via Outlook and I
believe the problem is my configuration. I am have a dsl connection
in a small office. I have a msn.com email address. However when I
try to send email I get an error message as follows:

On Tasks
Sending mail on account 'pop3.msn.com' failed Lan

On Errors
The server could not be found. (Accout:'pop3.msn.com', SMTP Server:
'smtp.msn.com', Error Number 0X800ccc0d).

I believe I may need a screen by screen answer to how I configure my
setup. Also, I would like to be able to get my email on my pocket pc.

Thanks

Hello, jhaire:

MSN is a bit tricky to configure for POP access, here it's a wizard
that will automatically configure your Outlook Express:

http://supportservices.msn.com/us/oeconfig/

Please, tell me if it worked on your system, and then we will try to
setup your pocket pc.

Regards.

Hello, jhaire:

It seems msn for mobile devices it's now a paid service, so the pop3
service has been discontinued. You can still use Outlook because it
uses the http protocol instead of pop3. To get the MSN services on
your mobile device (including access to your hotmail account), first,
ensure you have internet access and the point your mobile to this
address:

http://mobile.msn.com/pocketpc

I will continue my research to get more information, but please, try
this solution.

Regards.

Hello,
I have found several solutions to access your e-mail accounts from
your Pocket PC:

Pocket Hotmail 2.2
http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=5664&associateid=17

Price: $5.00

"Pocket Hotmail is an email aggregation program to synchronize your
personal webmail from Hotmail account to your PocketPC 2002 Inbox
application."

AOLŪ 2.0 for Pocket PC 2002 by America Online, Inc.
http://www.handango.com/PlatformProductDetail.jsp?siteId=1&platformId=2&productType=2&productId=67755

Price: $19.95

"Introducing AOL 2.0 for Pocket PC 2002 handhelds. Keep in touch with
AOL e-mail and instant messaging in the office, on the road, or
anywhere!"

But I think you should give a try to:

nPOP
http://www.nakka.com/soft/npop/index_eng.html

"This software allows you to access e-mail on a POP3 mail server on
your Pocket PC or PC. It provides the function of common remote e-mail
access."

Price: Free

With nPOP you should be able to connect to any POP3 mail account, not
to Hotmail, but I think Yahoo Mail must work, that is, using the same
access data you use on your PC.

So I think the order you should try it's:

-nPOP to see if fit your needs
-Pocket Hotmail 2.2 (it has a trial version you can try at no cost)
-Finally AOL 2.0 for Pocket PC

And tell me what results you get...

Regards.

Hello, jhaire:

I post a full answer, if you need any other help, please, don't
hesitate to request for any clarification, I will keep on
investigating until you fix any problem you have.

This wizard automatically configures your Outlook Express to access
MSN mail, the access is not using POP, but HTTP.

the following options:
