Couple of questions...I have a hard time getting into the swimming
pool if the air tempature is less than 90 degrees...it feels like I am
going to have a stroke...I would swim more often if this was not the
case...
WHy does this happen, can it lead to strokes, and is there something I
can do to prevent it? |

Can you describe precisely what you mean when you say that it feels as
if you are going to have a stroke? If you've had strokes or transient
ischemic attacks (TIAs) in the past, can you give some details? The
more information we have, the better we'll be able to research your
question.

I am not 100% positive if the problem is cold water or cold air
tempature...if the water is hot, i can get in regardless of air
temp...if the water isn't hot (as in jacuzzi style) i can only get in
if it is very hot (think arizona desert) outside....
I have never had strokes, but the water is very painful to the touch
of the skin...i have a hard time breathing, and it feels like my blood
pressure is changing (as in increasing)...could the answer be about
how my blood flows around my body, and the changes lead to changes in
my blood pressure??????
I am only 30 years old...

Do you experience this kind of reaction to cold air under any other
circumstances? For instance, when you go outdoors in the wintertime,
in a chilly breeze, is there a similar response?
At the time when you are experiencing this, does your skin have a
mottled look?

I have a very slight problem when I go out in cold weather, as I can't
exercise hard as the cold air is tough on my lungs...but that is below
30 F....so I don't believe that they are related...
I think that the answer has more to do with how blood flows around my
body (whether it is close to the skin)
