Hi there,

When you redirect, Google lists your site based on where it ends up.
If the GoogleBot visits www.shaysstudio.ie but ends up at
www.shaysstudio.com, then it is the .com site that ends up in the
index. Consequently your .ie URL is not in Google's index.

To have your site appear in a 'pages within Ireland' you have two
choices:

1. Choose www.shaysstudio.ie as your main website and redirect traffic
from www.shaysstudio.com. That way you will appear in the global and
regional indexes.

2. Have websites for both URLs. If they have duplicate content, then
Google will most likely penalize one of them by giving it a lower
PageRank (typically the one with the least incoming links). The best
solution is to have different content at each. The best way to achieve
this is to have everything different: host, whois details, contact
details on the site (tricky for you), written content and images.

I recommend the first option.

Best wishes,

Searching for "pages within Ireland" often resulted in pages in the
.com top level domain name, so I don't think your problem is that your
site is a .com site. I think it might have more to do with the fact
that your .com site is hosted in the United Kingdom. If you go to
://www.google.co.uk and search for "Shay's Studio," with "pages
from the UK" ticked, you'll find your page listed first.

thank you very much for your reply. i'm transfering my domain to an
Irish host, and to be on the safe side also decided to get an .IE
domain as well.
all the best.
Shay.
