What type of offense was it? i.e. type of offense and level (i.e.
misdemeanor DUI, or Felony Fraud, for example?)

If the offense is not a felony and not related to the realty business,
it most likely won't have much affect. The more details you give the
better your Answer will be.

There are plenty of realtors and brokers who are convicted felons.
Even the U.S. Congress has its share. However, it is up to the
state's Department of Real Estate to make the actual decision. Not
revealing your criminal past may also be cause for denial, even though
the actual crime you were concealing may have been forgiven.

I suspect (but do not know) that a simple DUI would not be cause for
denial, but a fraud conviction would be more likely to be grounds for
denial. Be honest and upfront about your background. Otherwise,
you'll always be looking over your shoulder.
