Dear bevo1234,
This is the result of my research. I had to collect and combine bits
and pieces of data from literally dozens of single datasets in the
WorldConnect and FamilySearch databases. To my distress, all the dates
referring to Wales differ more or less (in most cases, more), so I
tried to find the dates that were most probable and logical in
context.

- Additional Note -
From the book "Colonial Revolutionary Families", Vol. I, Bevan Family:
"John Bevan, first to bear the name in its modern form, came to
Pennsylvania in 1683, from Glamorganshire, Wales and was a son of Evan
ap John, of Treverigg, Glamorganshire, and Jane, daughter of Richard
ap Evan of Collena, and was described in a direct line, through
fourteen generations from Ictstan ap Gwrgan, the last prince of
Glamorgan, 1018, to 1090, and through his mother a lineal descendant
of Edward III, King of England. The land upon which he was born in
1646, and upon which he died and was buried eighty years later, after
an active and useful career, twenty of which was spent in
Pennsylvania, had been owned and occupied by his direct ancestors for
probably ten centuries."
- II: FamilySearch Data -
Few additional information can be obtained from FamilySearch's rich,
but scattered and disorganized database concerning John Bevan.
However, some things might be new facts:
- He actually died in July 1725
- His wife Barbara died 26 February 1710 in Treverigg
- Their eldest son Evan died 1720 in Merion, Pennsylvania
- Their daughter Elizabeth died 27 February 1740 in Philadelphia, PA
-- Charles Bevan --
Birth: About 1648 in Treverigg, Parish of Llantrisant, Glamorganshire,
Wales
Death: In Lower Merion Twp., Philadelphia Co. (Montgomery Co. since
1784)
Had 300 acres purchased by his brother John from William Penn
Father: Evan Ap John; born about 1611 in Treverigg, Parish of
Llantrisant, Glamorganshire, Wales
Mother: Jane Ap Richard; born about 1613 in Collena, Wales. Her
husband was the first to use Bevan as surname
Marriage: Florence Morgan [see below]
Married: About 1670 in Treverigg, Parish of Llantrisant,
Glamorganshire, Wales
Children:
- William Bevan; born about 1685 in Treverigg, Wales -or- Lower Merion
MM, Pennsylvania
- Stephen Bevan; born about 1699 in Treverigg, Wales -or- Lower
Gwynedd MM, Pennsylvania
Most likely, both William and Stephen were born in Pennsylvania
because obviously Charles was resident in the colony since 1683, when
his brother John conveyed 300 acres to him.
He married his cousin, Florence, daughter of Morgan ap Evan of
Gelligaled and Mary, eldest daughter of Richard ap Evan of Collenna.
He resold his land to John in 1698.
According to the FamilySearch database, he married Florence Morgan,
who was born about 1656 in Gelligaled, in ca. 1677 in Pontypool (Pont
Y Moil), Monmouthshire, Wales.

Glamorganshire, Wales

(Delaware Co. since 1789)

- Benjamin Bevan; born November 1711 in Chester MM, Chester Co., PA
- II: FamilySearch Data -
The information FamilySearch has on William Bevan is, alas, confusing
and inconsistent, and also scattered over several seperate datasets.
The FamilySearch Pedigree Resource File gives 1678 as his date of
birth; while this is not impossible, it would mean that his brother
Stephen was born 21 years later. I tend to believe that the date is a
typo or a mistake.
His place of birth is listed as Glamorganshire, Wales, which
corresponds with the WorldConnect data. And the date of death is 17
October 1715, which fits with the information you already have. So
does the name of his wife - Mary Sharpus -, while the wedding date is
"8 Mar 1705" instead of the correct "8 May 1705". Again, I suspect a
typo or some other mistake here. As his parents, one "John Ap Bevan,
Justice of Peace" and "Mrs. John Bevan" are listed. The wrong form "Ap
Bevan" shows that the person who wrote the record obviously did not
know about the structures of old Welsh names. The mysteriously wrong
first name "John" surely resulted from this fundamental
misunderstanding, since Charles' father's name was Evan Ap John.
