I need to locate a place (online, really, but definitely in the United
Kingdom) selling miniature (fruit)cakes, about 2"x2", iced and
presented nicely, for a friend's birthday. It's meant to be a sort of
touching gesture, easily concealed until the right moment, rather than
an actual source of nourishment, though obviously it must be edible.

I've seen them occasionally in card shops, but now can't seem to find
any in town. Once upon a time you could save old Post Office stamp
booklets and send-off for one. Very tasty it was too...

I found this iced fruit cake which come complete with a greeting tag
to relay your message (I love You, Happy B'day, Happy Anniversary, or
Congratulations). It is about 4"X4". Is this ok for you?

4"x4" is (obviously) about four times the area/volume as the one I had
seen before, so it would be too big really. If you'd feel greedy
eating the whole thing, by yourself, at one sitting, it's too big :-)

OK, I've had another look, and I found this one which is 6cm sq (just
over 2") and comes with a "Happy Birthday" balloon. If this is
suitable let me know.

Indeed, I think that one is part of the range I had seen -- seems they
are made by these people http://www.wellsprings.co.uk/ so maybe I'll
see if they can supply a list of retailers.

So yeah.

Very helpful, thanks. Only reason not 5-stars is that I suspect
perhaps the online retailer I was hoping for doesn't quite exist, and
I'll have to hunt around.

What a great idea!

It's my elder daughter's birthay next Wednesday and I'd like to get
her such a cake to present to her after dinner.

(I live in the UK, too.)
