I have an idea that I am working on that requires the services of
people with Photoshop skills.

I have a preference for India because on my various visits there, I
have found them to be such friendly and helpful people.

I have no plans to visit India in the near future but how best to make
contact with such folk?

Hello Bryan,

I’ve heard so many others express similar sentiments that I’m sure
there must be something to them. In any case, it ought not be
terribly difficult to locate competent Photoshop designers from India.
Since you don’t state whether your project is in web design or some
other type of graphic design, I’ll try to provide sources for as many
types as I can find, since Photoshop can be used for a variety of

You might try “Freelance Designers: Design Services Search Engine”
here: If the search
return isn’t displayed, simply type in: “photoshop design freelance
india” (without the quote marks) into the box. I received many pages
of resumes of freelance Indian designers. If, for example, you’re not
interested in a web designer, then just add “-web” (without the quote
marks) to your search string to eliminate those.

Another similar resource is BrainTrustIndia, a searchable database of
Indian software professionals, here:
Here’s a link to the result of my search on “graphic design

A very elegant global directory/search engine of design professionals
that will let you search by country. You can also modify the search
to include design specialties, which you’ll likely want to do, as
there are nearly 500 listings for India. See here: If you scroll your mouse over Asia on the
map, you’ll get a popup menu of countries, of which India is one.
Click on that and you’ll get a listing of individuals, and the
modification feature is located on that page. Once you get it
narrowed down, then you can read the brief descriptions and choose
which you’d like to click on for more detailed information.

Another service is at Freelance Contractors Directory, where you can
search resumes by specialty and country. You can also register (free)
to post your project for bidding on by prospective contractors. India
is included in the country list, and my search (on “photoshop” and
“india”) returned 45 pages of results:

Karnataka: Indian Flash Designers Directory: Although
they specialize in listing Flash designers, a scan of the resumes
posted includes many with Photoshop skills.

Another global site with a database of freelance designers, searchable
by country:

Here’s a site with a few Indian designers and a bit of a cumbersome
procedure for contacting them. Nevertheless, I’ll include it because
some of the individuals listed appear to have good qualifications:

Mirra Web Design Studio (Chennai, South India): They appear very
professional and have a full staff with a complete range of skill
sets, including Photoshop, and offer a complete array of design

Design2Kill (India and Europe):

GraphiNet (Pune, India)

Cicada Media (Bangalore, India)

32 Bytes (Calcutta, Kanpur, India) (A young company looking offering some
“extras” in order to grow)

Isha Enterprises (Bombay, India)

INDIVIDUAL DESIGNERS (Incl. single-person companies)
================================================================================ (Bombay) (Hyderabad) (Bombay) Kind of a “plain
Jane” resume, but he says he’s a Photoshop expert.

Here’s a forum/discussion site for people planning to meet on
“International Photoshop Meetup Day,” an event aimed at graphic
designers who want to trade tips and tricks with other Photoshop
users. There are quite a few registered users from India, but it
appears one would have to register and post in order to contact any of
them. Still, it could be a resource. Check it out here:

I hope this gives you a good selection of resources for finding
someone skilled in Photoshop to undertake the project you have in
mind. Please let me know if you need any clarification. Thanks, and
best of luck!

Kindest regards,

Hi, Byrd

Many thanks for your prompt & apparently marvellous answer.

It looks great but I've drunk too much champagne to do anything as
arduous as 'rating' your answer tonight. (I might hit the wrong button
and be over-generous with my tip.)

(I worry that, with $5,000 or so in your pocket, you might go off the

But, please, watch out!

I get up at 5 a.m. every morning, so expect some excitement about 6
hours from now. (Here in the UK, it's now nearly 10.30 p.m.)

Oh my, Bryan, too much champagne? Of course, *I'd* never be in such a
state at 10:30 pm. Sure (hic). Matter of fact, I intend to begin
about two hours from now, or around seven our time. That is, not
champagne, since we have none in the house at the moment, but I've
been thirsting for a nice cold beer (hey! I'm an easy keeper, what can
I say) for a couple of hours now! Just waiting for dinner time (nice
t-bone on the grill with a good green salad on the side). Oh dear,
now I'm making myself hungry as well as thirsty!

Thanks for such a quick response. Seriously, I certainly hope these
links are as marvellous as you're supposing. Please DO let me know if
they're not, and I will gladly do some more searching for you. In the
meantime, enjoy your evening and have a nice sound sleep, secure in
the knowledge that you will not be responsible for my going off the
rails with too much in my pocket!

Hi, Again, Byrd

Very many thanks for your stellar offering.

I shall start making contacts right away.

Just a wee bit disappointed that you didn't offer to make a personal
visit to the Land of the Taj Mahal, rather than just rely on this
Internet thing.

But then, I suppose, nobody's perfect.

Kindest regards

Good morning, Bryan,

I hope you slept well. Thank you so much for the five-star rating and
very generous tip - and you see? It has given a nice start to my day
rather than a push off the rails! I'm glad you were pleased with the
answer and hope the information will indeed prove useful to you. As
to a trip to the land of Taj, ah yes - pity I didn't think of that. I
can see I shall have to run much harder in pursuit of that ever
elusive goal of perfection .... of course it never seems to get any
closer, but(huff puff) one can always try ...
