I am having trouble installing programs on Windows 2000 Server
edition. I have tried installing three different programs, but none
of them worked. For example, when I trying install Adobe Acrobat
Reader, I double-click on the executable, it pops up and starts
unpacking, but then nothing happens. I have waited for almost 20
minutes for a window to pop up, but nothing happens. The computer is
not frozen, because I can still open up other programs. The same
thing happens when I try installing the three different programs,
nothing will pop up. I am loged in as Administrator.

Hi mezpro2020,

As you know, these types of problems are difficult to solve remotely
sometimes. That being said, I have had a similar problem that might
just be your cure?

By chance, have you changed the path for My Documents on this
computer? If so, this could be why they refuse to install. Norton
System Works and Adobe Pagemaker both exhibit this problem (or
similar) when that path has changed.

If you do not know how to check this, post a clarification and I will
detail the procedure to check and rest to default if needed. If it is
set to default, then your problem is elsewhere. If this cures your
problem, do let me know!

Regards,

Download updated version of Windows Installer from MSFT?
Run "setup.exe /?" from dos, and see if you can run setup in
logged/debug mode?
Install winzip, and manually unpack the install files using
rightlick->extract to folder.
