catalog entry keywords linking to http://www.spexproductions.com
http://www.endlesswonder.com and http://www.liberty72.com disappeared.
At same time DirectNIC says they lost their servers containing these

Hi Johnsullivan ~

I see that your question is contained in the Subject line: "DirectNIC
dropped pages ... does this affect Google?" and supported with
information within the body of the question.

Among the reasons that your sites may be dropped from Google's index
can be found in its Webmaster Information:

"If your page does not appear at all, there here are some
     other possible explanations.

    * ... Your site may not have been reachable when we tried
to crawl it because of network or hosting problems. When
this happens, we retry multiple times, but if the site cannot
be crawled, it will not be listed in our current index. If it
was a transient problem, your site will likely show up in the
next index, which will be completed in a few weeks."

So the quick answer is that yes, it could have been a problem with
your sites not being available because of DirectNIC's dropping the
pages.

On an interesting note -
========================

When I began to answer this question (approximately 7:30 PM, PST),
none of the three sites came up in my Google search.

Checking again for your sites from the Open Directory Project
(dmoz.org). Not finding them listed there, I chose the search engines
at the bottom of the DMOZ directory, and www.spexproductions.com
reappeared in Google when I searched for it. The other two,
www.endlesswonder.com and www.liberty72.com are still not returning
results when I search for them.

There are other reasons your site may not be listed which are
explained in some detail on both Google's Webmaster Info
   - ://www.google.com/webmasters/2.html

and its Guidelines
   - ://www.google.com/webmasters/guidelines.html

In addition, you may want to examine Google's PageRank as explained in
the above links to increase your visibility in Google's search engine
results.

In view of the fact I just saw one of the sites reappear during the
course of preparing this answer, I would guess that it may have been
more the case that your sites weren't available than other reason. It
never hurts, though, to understand how to design a Google-friendly web
site and what may cause you to be dropped from Google's index
completely.

Just a Reminder

   * www.liberty72.com

In addition, I relied on bookmarked references and personal knowledge
of Google's Webmaster Information and Guidelines to help.
