Whenever I click on a link on my web browser, IE 6, and it opens a new web browser the second page always opens as a small square on my desktop. I have to click the maximize icon to get it to open as a full screen. It didn't always to this. One night a few weeks ago it began doing this, I don't think I did anything to cause this but I may have. Thank you for your help. Sincerely, Jeff |

Hi Jeff, Yeah, that's a bit frustrating. Here's what you do. Open your web browser, and maximize it if its not already. Then press CTRL-N to open a new window. It should open up full size. If not, the maximize the new window, close it, and then press CTRL-N again. This time should open full size. To check, right click on a hyperlink now and select from the floating menu, "Open in New Window". The new window should now be full size. A note here, when links are set to open selections in new windows, as many referance sites will do, there are javascript codes that can tell the browser how large to open the window, and whether to put a menu on, or leave it off. These codes will sometimes reset your normal setting of full size. I hope this solves your problem. webadept-ga |

You can change the default size of non-maximized IE windows: 1. Make sure you only have one IE window open (because IE only remembers the size of the last window you *close*). 2. If the window is maximized, unmaximize it. 3. Resize the window by dragging any corner. To make the window as large as possible, you may want to move the window to a corner of the screen by dragging the title bar, which then allows you to make it fill the screen by dragging a single corner. I don't think it's possible to make IE windows always open maximized. If I try to make the window larger than the screen (necessary for "fake maximization"), then the next time I run IE, it shrinks a little to fit in the screen. However, it's not difficult to make IE windows large. Have you tried the Mozilla browser? Unlike IE, it remembers that you like to keep your browser windows maximized. |

Resize the second window to the size you want (any size except maximum), then close it. That will set the standard for the next second window you open. If anyone else knows how to get it to open maximised I'll be interested to hear. |

Hi, I have understood your problem clearly, and experienced it earlier too. You might have told windows os to tile the windows horizontally or vertically, and once you do that, you get the same sized windows from then on. Solution- Open your browser, see that it is the only window thats open, if any other applications are open on the main screen close them, point your mouse on the task bar, right click it and say "tile windows horizontally". since you have only one window open it appears in full screen. close the browser and restart it. This should solve the problem. See that you have atleast one proper restart of the operating system. If not the settings will not be saved and you might have to repeat the task again. Bye, Ray |
