I want to get a copy of this vidio which I saw on tv no longer ago
than 5 years. It was called He Dances with Cormorants. Or something
like that. He searched for an egg that he could raise and then the
bird would imprint on him and become part of this "fishing crew." I
remember it as being beautiful and fascinationg.

The film you're looking for is "He Dances for His Cormorants":

"He Dances for His Cormorants - 26 minutes, Low Adrenaline (Cultural
Environment Focus)

Produced/Directed by Frédéric Fougea - Boréales Productions

Zong Man is considered the best fisherman on the Lijiang River. He has
twelve cormorants, trained to catch the biggest fish in the river.
Each year Zong Man raises a young cormorant. Here begins his suprising
story: a marriage, an egg and a birth."

"World-renowned documentary producer Frédéric Fougea... who heads the
Paris-based Boreales Production Company, wrote and produced the
award-winning series 'Lord of the Animals' which explores the timeless
relationship between human beings and animals. His films have captured
awards around the world at festivals such as the Jackson Hole Wildlife
Festival, Wildscreen, the Banff Television Festival and The Banff
Mountain Film Festival which is produced by The Banff Centre for
Mountain Culture. He has also won an International Emmy Award. In
1996, The Tsaatan, the Reindeer Riders, won the Grand Prize at the
Banff Mountain Film Festival and Gaston and the Truffle Hunters took a
Banff Rockie Award at the Banff Television Festival for Best
Children's Program. In 1994, He Dances for His Cormorants won the Best
Film on Mountain Culture People's Choice Award at the Banff Mountain
Film Festival and earned a Banff Rockie Award that same year for Best
Children's Program."

Unfortunately, I have not been able to find a copy of this film for
sale. Although "He Dances for His Cormorants" has been shown on
television and at film festivals, it does not appear that a commercial
video was ever released.

I remember seeing this program and am reasonably sure that I saw a
copy of the video at the local library (here in Australia). I did a
search and found a copy for sale at an educational resources shop but
the price is pretty steep at $225 US!!! Here's the site (you need to
scroll down the page a bit), but why not try your local library and
see if they have a copy you can borrow instead.

Great work, stressedmum!

I believe the video located by stressedmum is likely to be in PAL
format, which is used in Australia. The United States and Canada use
NTSC format. If you plan to order this video, you should be certain
that it is compatible with your equipment.
