Howdy markj, I fondly remember the first 45 single I bought with my own money, "5 O'clock World" by the Vogues, which was "revived" as the theme to "The Drew Carey Show." What was, assuming there was one, the first 45 single that you bought, or your favorite one? Thanks! denco-ga |

Hi denco, how nice to hear from you! Actually, I don't think I have ever bought a 45rpm single! And I don't remember the first recording I ever bought with my own money, but it must have been a 78rpm jazz recording. A childhood friend and I used to browse for treasures at a Salvation Army store in the mid-1950s, and we occasionally found something that justified parting with some of our hard-earned money. If I had to guess, I would say it was an Artie Shaw recording by his small group (The Gramercy Five)called "Summit Ridge Drive." Oh, the memories. Again, thanks for the question. markj-ga |

Ahhh, I didn't think to go the other way, to 78s. Indeed, I have bought a few of those as well, mostly for classical cuts. Much thanks! denco-ga |
