alvarez469-ga, I've read the Comments you've received so far, and I'm convinced that without a doubt, I've got your ultimate Answer. The most foul, horrible, disgusting-smelling odor I've ever smelled came from a chemical compound known as "Putrescine." (Note the root of the word, "putrid" in the name). This is the exact chemical compound produced by the rotting of animal flesh, and it smells just like it. See the following link for more information, from Wikipedia: http://www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Putrescine "Putrescine (sometimes spelled putrescin or putrescene) is an organic chemical compound C4H12N2 (1,4-diaminobutane or butanediamine) formed by and having the smell of rotting flesh. It is related to cadaverine; both are produced by the breakdown of amino acids in living and dead organisms." Once I came across a can of Putrescine in a college lab chemical storage freezer, and my friend could not resist the temptation to open the canister to smell it. He did, and promptly vomited on the spot. You can buy some online here http://www.apolloscientific.co.uk/products/lifescience/otherProducts_Lifesciences_Putrescine.htm , through Apollo Scientific Limited, but I strongly urge you not to if you're just looking for a practical joke/gag type of thing. Google search strategy: Keywords: "putrescine": ://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&safe=off&q=putrescine&spell=1 , "putrescine order": ://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&safe=off&q=putrescine+order&btnG=Google+Search I (don't really) hope this helps! Good luck in continuing your inquiries! Sincerely, omniscientbeing-ga Google Answers Researcher |

A couple of possibilities are hydrogen sulphide (which smells like rotten eggs) and methyl mercaptan (which has a skunk-like odor). |

Hello alvarez469-ga, You might be interested to know that the US military is interested in your mission of finding the worst and strongest foul odor and has developed materials to fell crowds. I have no idea why you need these products or where you can get them but the stories of the militarys "Ultimate Stink Bomb" will help you define the qualities youre looking for. U.S. Military Is Seeking Ultimate "Stink Bomb" --------------------------------------------------- http://www.diodon349.com/Stories/General/Pentagon_Investigates_Stench_Warfare.htm July 05, 2001 -- Pentagon Investigates 'Stench Warfare' London (CNSNews.com) - The Pentagon is developing the ultimate "stink bomb" - a harmless weapon aimed at clearing hostile mobs or driving away enemy troops with a stench so foul it will provoke not just repugnance but fear. Dalton, a cognitive psychologist, found two odors that appeared to offend irrespective of culture and ethnicity, the magazine reported. The first smell, called U.S. Government Standard Bathroom Malodor, is a smell created to test the effectiveness of deodorizing cleaning products. "It's very pungent," said Dalton. "More precisely, it smells like s***, but much, much stronger. It fills your head. It gets to you in ways that are unimaginable." So awful was the smell some volunteers began to scream and curse within seconds of exposure. Although it was harmless, everyone expressed the view that it would damage their health. The second stench was a sulphur-based one approximating the smell of rotting carcasses or food. http://www.wasteage.com/ar/waste_stink_bombs_away/ http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2002/01/0107_020107TVstinkbomb.html http://abcnews.go.com/sections/world/DailyNews/stink010705.html ---------------------------------------- While searching, I came across this irresistible item. http://www.globalideasbank.org/reinv/RIS-26.HTML Anti-rape stink bomb in bra Good luck. czh |
