Complicated question. I need a laptop exclusively for MS office type
stuff. I have used PC's for last 10 years. Mobility is a major
concern. Also, I must be able to use the laptop to do powerpoint
presentations which have embedded MPEG2 video clips (10-15 sec clips)
as part of presentations. I will also be doing email.

I am choosing between 2 specific laptops. One is the NEW Powerbook G4
12 inch which was announced TODAY. Not the old 867 Mhz version. I am
also considering the fujitsu P5010, with 512 MB memory.

If I were to buy the Mac, I would get the non-superdrive version, I
would need 512 MB ram and a 802.11 card in the device, and I would
need to buy MS office for the Mac. However,I could use the
educational discount for the computer and software which is available
on apple.com's website. Yhe Fujitsu would be the 512MB/60GB version,
retailing for $1899. I already have MS office for the PC.

What I would like to see is a suggestion for which laptop to buy. The
most important considerations are price, mobility, video performance
in MS office applications(what is the relative video performance of
the new powerbooks vs the pentium 900 M in the fujitsu - are there any
common benchmarks?) I know the new powerbook came out today with a
larger cache and faster processor, but try to estimate performance.

What is your evaluation of which one I should purchase? It is
somewhat subjective I admit, but please gather all the advice you can
and help me make a decision.

PC compatibility is an issue, but according to apple and MS, office
apps are pretty compatible.
