I am certain that you're looking for "Epaminondas and his Auntie," by
Sara Cone Bryant. I loved this book when I was a child, and it is good
to learn that it's still in print after all these years.

Here you'll find a list of places where you can purchase "Epaminondas
and His Auntie":

Google Web Search: "epaminondas and his auntie"

You can read a text-only version of "Epaminondas and His Auntie" here:

Pinkfreud,

Why does it seems as though every time someone asks about a book they
remember as a child you seem to have read it, or a song you seem to
have heard it? Were you always a genius?

Bowler,

I guess the reason I can identify so many books, songs, and movies is
because I am very, very old, and the packrat's nest that I call my
brain tends to hang on to scraps of information for no particular
reason. Unfortunately my mind refuses to be similarly tenacious when
it comes to important stuff like my own phone number and the location
of my car keys. ;-)
