Hello dawnc-ga,
Charitable organizations that meet the requirements under IRC Section
501(c)(3) who are engaged in charitable, religious, educational,
scientific, literary, testing for public safety,
activities.
Further, the term charitable is used in its generally accepted legal
sense and includes
advancement of education or science
.
Organizations doing research to eliminate anxiety disorders clearly
qualify under these guidelines so any donations you might make to them
will be tax exempt within the meaning of the law.
There are a large number of organizations dedicated to alleviating
anxiety disorders. To help you make your donations, Ive identified
specific organizations that you can contribute to. In addition, Ive
also included some links that will provide you with collections of
organizations that might be of further interest.
I hope that this information will help with your project. Please ask
for clarification before rating my answer if you need additional
information.
Wishing you success.

ORGANIZATIONS ENGAGED IN ANXIETY DISORDERS RESEARCH

National Institute of Mental Health Gift Fund
Although the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) is a Federally
funded organization and not a fund-raising organization, it has been
authorized by the U.S. Congress to accept bequests and donations to
support the mission of the Institute.
Donations to NIMH are handled in our "Gift Fund" account, which is
separate from the appropriation that we receive from Congress. Since
our basic operating expenses and administrative costs are paid from
our appropriation, all donations to the NIMH are used for special
projects in support of mental health and disorder research.

NIMH Revitalizes Its Intramural Clinical Research
A major reorganization and expansion of research on mood and anxiety
disorders is at the forefront of changes underway in the National
Institute of Mental Health, Division of Intramural Research Programs
(DIRP). The improvements, including creation of new labs and outside
recruitment of several senior investigators, were recommended a few
years ago by a distinguished panel of outside experts convened to
assess the quality of the Institutes intramural clinical science.
They bring new areas of expertise to the Institutes in-house research
program, the worlds largest center for studying mental illness, which
accounts for about 12 percent of the NIMH science budget.
