I'm running Internet Explorer 6.0 on Windows 2000. I will be moving the OS to Windows XP on a new computer. How do I transfer my "Links" shortcuts which appear underneath the "Address" bar and provide one-click access to commonly used URLs to the new system? |

Hello, rbnn: In Windows 2000, your favorites are stored in: C:\WINDOWS\FAVORITES Being c:\windows the installation directory of your system. The favorite bookmarks are .url files, so you can simply copy them. In Windows XP, favorites are stored in: C:\Documents and Settings\[your user name]/Favorites Being [your user name] your account name. Said that, you just need to backup the favorites from Windows 2000 and after you install Windows XP, then, restore them in the Windows XP directoy. Of course, these are the default instructions for a default system, so if you have any problem or any additional question, please, don't hesitate to request for a clarification. We are here to help you. Regards. |
