Question ID: 258394
Does anyone know where I can find a temporary 3 month or 6 month lease
apartment in New York City? I would like to find a small place
(studio or 1 bedroom) that is furnished and relatively inexpensive. I
would like it to be in the city or near the city near public
transportation. I would also like to find one that does not require a
finders fee.

Hello gregoryew-ga:

It was a pleasure to answer your question. As you might know that it
is difficult to find a FURNISHED apartment in NYC for cheap. Most of
the apartments fall in the executive category that is expensive.
Although, I am not sure about your budget but it seemed that you want
a furnished apartment because you might be staying for a short period.
Again, as I am not sure about your budget a $1000 apartment might be
cheap for you OR vice versa.

Therefore, I am providing you a list of the best websites for NYC
where you may find the apartment of your choice. Please be aware that
I have searched a lot of websites in the past (as I myself live in
NYC), I am only providing you the best websites that I think will be
most helpful. As a general guideline, I only considered those websites
that offered a number of NYC studio OR 1 bed apartments at around
$600-$1000. AGAIN, whatever your budget is, you will find the
following websites very useful.

I don’t want to provide you with a long list of websites as I consider
these websites to be better than hundreds of other NYC apartment
rental websites. I stand by my words as you can yourself compare any
other website with these.

Following is the list:

SUBLET
http://www.sublet.com
It is one of the best website on web to find an apartment. You can
seek an apartment by state, city, location, price range,
furnished/unfurnished, lease terms and much more. (Please select a
private apartment option to find an apartment by number of rooms or
studio: You may also look for a shared apartment that is relatively
less expansive).

EASY RENT
http://www.easyrent.com/
It is also considered as one of the best. The only drawback is that it
doesn’t provide you the option of furnished/unfurnished. You will have
to sort that individually.

THE MANHATTAN REAL ESTATE
http://www.themanhattanrealestate.com/
It is also a very useful website that allows you to search under a
wide variety of criteria.

TOPNYCAPTS
http://topnycapts.com/Search-new-york-apartment-rentals.html
Although the listings are not that extensive but it provides you with
a high quality search results broken into categories. You can also
look for furnished apartments through this website.
________________________________________________________________________

RENT WAVE
http://www.rentwave.com
It is definitely one of my favorites on the internet. It not only has
huge lists of apartments but also has the easiest of navigation tools
and much more. Hurrah!
________________________________________________________________________

ARDOR NY
http://ardorny.com/home.htm
It is among the most comprehensive websites on the web, if you are
looking for an apartment in NYC, this must be very useful as you can
search with a variety of criteria. DON’T! Miss their bargain hunter
opportunity.
________________________________________________________________________

SPRING STREET
http://www.springstreet.com
It is also a great source of information on NYC rentals with many
listings. You can search with a variety of criteria.

Hello gregoryew-ga:

After answering your question, I myself started browsing through the
websites. Just to remind you that you should take special notice of
the very first website http://www.sublet.com. While searching
according to your criteria, I came across many apartments that fulfill
your needs (i.e. inexpensive, furnished, transport etc).

Just want to remind you that you may find cheaper apartments in areas
like Queens and Brooklyn rather than Manhattan without compromising on
quality and transport. Long Island & Staten Island do not provide very
good transportation unless you live near subway or LIRR. On the other
hand Bronx is just a little too much congested.

Again, it all depends on your requirements but this website by itself
is worth *******.

Best wishes,
leader-ga.
