Heard an interview on bbc radio a couple of months back with a guitar
player who was noteable because he played it in unusual ways including
it for simulaneous percussion and producing other non-traditional
effects. Didn't note the name, doh. Apparently listeners were very
surprised it was only one person playing. He was doing a live shows in
UK at that time. Can you guide me to his name and some samples of
material. Sounded worth a listen too.

Sounds like it could be Fred Frith or Derek Bailey,if you're
interested in unusual guitar music the former especially would be a
good place to start.

Looks to me like Michael Hedges. He has been described as making
strange percussive noises, and many people say that it sounds as if
two or three people are playing at once.

The guitarist is most probably Gordon Giltrap (he is currently touring
in the UK and has been for some time).

You can sample some of his music - legally - here:

His webpage can be found at www.giltrap.co.uk
