Hello!

Just came across an article on the moon's nodes: Rahu and Ketu. This
is a three part question:

1. I'm interested in what happens when Ketu transits through the
second house and Rahu transits through the seventh house?

2. What do these two houses stand for (second house and seventh
house)?

3. Further, if these second and seventh houses are occupied by other
planets..would there be a positive or detrimental affect.

Thanks.

Howdy tvr,

As Rahu and Ketu are opposite each other, there has to be
a difference of 6 (houses) between the houses they appear,
that is, you can have Ketu in the 2nd house with Rahu in the
8th house, or you can have Ketu in the 1st house with Rahu
in the 7th house, but you can't have Ketu in the 2nd house
with Rahu in the 7th house.

In which house does your Moon appear? This determines which
houses your Ketu/Rehu appear.

Looking Forward, denco-ga

Howdy denco:

Thanks for bringing that to my notice...Yes, I do remember the 6 house
difference now.

Well, moon in my natal chart is in the second house from the
ascendent. Ketu, I believe has just entered the same house as the
moon. So, does that mean that Ketu has entered the second house or
first (when calculated from the moon)? I guess you can figure out
Rahu's position from there. Hope this helps.

Thanks,
TVR

One more clarification please, if you don't mind, TVR.

Did you want the current conditions in regards to Rahu
and Ketu? It seems that they are in opposites to what
you are asking, that is, Rahu is currently in the 1st
house and Ketu is in the 7th house.

Thanks! denco-ga

Hello Again!

With regard to your request for clarification - Yes, I do need the
current conditions. However, do make sure that you are giving me the
correct information. Even from my elementary knowledge about
astrology, the position of Rahu and Ketu or other planets for that
matter is all *relative* - i.e. the house they are transiting depends
on the ascendant of the person whose birth chart you would be
analyzing. The house that the ascendant is placed would be considered
as the 'first house'. In vedic astrology, the position of moon may
also be taken as the first house.

As such, irrespective of whether you consider the western or the vedic
system, Rahu is NOT currently in the 1st house (of my chart) and Ketu
is NOT in the 7th house. Kindly read my first clarification to know
about the current positions.

Hope this helps.

Hello tvr,

Vedic and Western astrology have quite different interpretations of
the Nodes, as described in:
http://www.astrological-reports.i12.com/index/html/transits_rahu_ketu.html

According to a Vedic astrology article at
http://www.komilla.com/pages/rahu-ketu.html the transits of Rahu and
Ketu have the most impact when they come into conjunction with the
Ascendant or a natal planet, especially the Sun or Moon.

I am only familiar with Western astrology, in which the 7th house
signifies relationships, while the 2nd signifies security, possessions
and money.
