Hello,

I am a student who created a webpage about 4 years ago. It is a lyrics
server and it receives roughly 67,000 hits/day (where a hit is a song
request or a search request). My site is completely ad-free, no popups
or anything. I have never tried to make a profit from this traffic.
However, I'm starving and low on cash and I could use the extra dough.
I want to turn this traffic into money.

A lot of my visitors I feel are probably return visitors, and most I
don't think would actually click on an ugly banner given the choice. I
experimented and found that at best, using strategically and
intelligently placed links, I could generate about 2-3 thousand click
throughs to an advertiser per day.

I need a google researcher with experience in web advertising to help
me find a good ad program taylored to my site and its traffic. I don't
know what web advertisers there are, and how much they pay, etc. I
need a list of reliable ones.

ps

what is an 'impression'?

my guess: let p = picture hosted on remote adverstiser hyperlinked to
advertiser
is an impression a unique download of p?

if there are sites that pay for just impressions, that would be
tremendous!! i would rather get half a cent per impression than 5
cents per click through (the math is pretty self explanatory)...

please help me figure this out.

thanks in advance!

Are you willing to have popup ads on your site? Do you care about the
content of ads, i.e., are you willing to accept ads for dating
services, casinos, spyware, cameras designed for voyeuristic purpose,
sexual aids, herbal Viagra substitutes, etc.?

I care somewhat. As far as the things you specifically mentioned:
dating services, yes... everything else you mentioned, no.

To be perfectly clear: of all the types of advertisements you
mentioned, "dating services" is the only one I'd agree to have on my
site, and not in the form of a popup, only a low-key banner or text
ad.

Half a cent per impression is being optimistic unless you have ads
that are targeted to the specific readers your site draws.

Just try Google Adsense as it is very easy to set up with a few lines
on each page where you want click through ads. The ads will be context
sensitive to what you have on the page. It is only a few lines of code
to paste at the top of each page if you are approved.
