I am a new user to ebay and i am look for tips on to be safe, i know
there is a lot of information on ebay itself but i am looking for a
person who knows the site and used it. I need general tips on how to
buy stuff and sell and what to look out for.

There is something that i have been woundring about, when i browse and
try to buy something i find a number and a star beside someones name
and i alwased woundred what the start ment i know that the higher the
number the better but sometimes i find a yellow start or a green one
is there a diffrence?

It is always a pleasure to answer your question. I remember answering
one of your questions recently where I made a little mistake (Pay Pal
in the Middle East) but I am making sure this time that it is not
repeated again.

Just a little advice for using eBay. If you don’t understand any icon
(rating, star, gift icon, camera icon) just click on it and it will
provide you an explanation of what it is for. It goes for any icon or
number you encounter on eBay.

Now, let’s talk about the stars and the numbers first. Actually, the
number beside a seller is his feedback rating. It is a little
confusing so let me explain it with an example. Suppose there is a
seller by the name of Google (28). The number 28 is his feedback
rating. Suppose, 32 customers have bought from Google, 30 of them have
given him a positive feedback but two of them have given him a
negative feedback. Now for every positive feedback, Google will earn 1
point and for every negative feedback he will get (-1). If you add 30
for a positive feedback and subtract 2 for a negative feedback, it
will make Google’s feedback rating 30-2=28.

eBay gives 1 point for a positive feedback, -1 for a negative feedback
and 0 for a neutral feedback.

If you want to see a very detailed feedback of the seller, just click
on his feedback rating and you will get comprehensive details. In
Google’s case, you have to click on (28).

Let us come to the stars. A star color simply indicates the feedback
points earned by a seller. In Google’s case he will get a yellow star
for having feedback points between 10 and 49. The star color changes
