Hi widower,
Is the song you're referring to "Jesus Christ the Apple Tree?" If so,
I believe I have your answer.
Thanks,
Emjay-ga

Greetings Widower:

If you mean the traditional folk song about Apple Tree Wassail, it is
only cited as a traditional holiday tune and not attributed to any
specific writer. You may view history about that song (and various
versions) at http://www.geocities.com/CapitolHill/5567/applewass.html
and http://www.eastbournepagancircle.co.uk/articles/wassail.html

If you mean "Jesus Christ the Apple Tree" it was written by Elizabeth
Poston and you may see the lyrics at these two sites:

http://www.hymnsandcarolsofchristmas.com/Hymns_and_Carols/jesus_christ_the_apple_tree.htm

http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Hills/2168/lyrics/song059.html

It is also listed in the titles at
http://www.chamberlainmusic.com/ProductDetail.asp?ProductID=COLCD302
and you may purchase it from
http://www.stagepass.com/groupartist/artist_item_detail.hperl?Artist=Poston%2C+Elizabeth&Invnum=8300514

If you require clarification of any of the links or information I have
presented, please request it before closing and rating the question
and I will be happy to respond.

Best regards,

Greetings again, Widower. My colleague, Pinkfreud, has suggested
another possibility - a song named "Linden Lea" referring to an apple
tree. It was written by Ralph Vaughan Williams. You may view those
lyrics at http://www.recmusic.org/lieder/b/barnes/ll.html - I wanted
to include it as another possibility for your consideration.

Best regards,
journalist-ga
