Question ID: 259634
An interactive electronic technical manual (IETM) is a Navy and DoD
term ( http://www.boeing.com/defense-space/aerospace/techdata/ietm.htm)
for electronic replacements for paper manuals used in training,
logistics, operations, and maintenance activities. As the link above
will tell you, there are various levels of IETM categorized by their
level (1-5) of functionality.

Suppliers of these IETM's (sometimes referred to as Electronic
Technical Manuals (ETM) or Tech Orders (TO)) range from Boeing,
Lockheed, Raytheon and other large defense suppliers to small
companies such as Dayton Brown. The big companies supply very
complex, expensive and sophisticated IETMs based on proprietary
systems to support new airplanes or other pieces of capital equipment.
Smaller companies provide less sophisticated, lower level IETMs that
are often provided on CD Roms and play on PCs or laptop computers.
Almost all of these companies supply the military.

What I want to find out is who are the players (suppliers and users)
of IETM's or their equivalents in the private sector? I have heard
that pharmaceutical companies, companies making electrical generation
equipment, and other private sector companies use electronic technical
manuals instead of paper manuals. What companies use electronic
manuals and what companies supply these manuals to them?

tutuz-dad Great info about one sector: maintenance and the mms. I
was hoping to find companies in training and logistics or combinations
of all three in the private sector that weren't DoD related.

Serenata-ga. The companies/organizations listed are so large that I
really need to know what part of the company (a specific division or
contact) or application/product supported. For example SAIC
(basically a federal contractor) is a collection of small companies
that are spaced out all over the world.

Go ahead and post as an answer. I adjusted the price down slightly so
I could give you a higher rating. I'm new here and I hope that that
is acceptable practice. I would like to use this service more.
Thanks. Also any additional info in my previous clarification
appreciated.

Dear hanuman67-ga;

Thank you for allowing me an opportunity to answer your interesting
question. The practice of reducing a question’s price in order to
accommodate a lesser than anticipated answer is indeed acceptable and
I appreciate your interest in my work. Per your request and generous
invitation, I am posting my findings as an answer to your question:

In my research I discovered that an alternate and more recently used
name for Electronic Technical Manuals (ETM) in the private sector is
“Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)”. Using these
strategies I was able to find a few of the better known companies and
give you some information about what they do and with whom they
conduct business.

company based in Montreal Canada is highly regarded as a frontrunner
