Dear ozricrm-ga;

Thank you for allowing me an opportunity to answer your interesting
question.

Upon his death Jascha Heifetz's willed the famous Joseph Guarnerius
del Gesu violin (now known as “The David” in honor of it’s symbolic
19th century guardian, violinist Ferdinand David) to the Fine Arts
Museums of San Francisco with the provision that it is to be played on
special occasions. The conservatory selects students to play the
violin in an annual recital. As of September 24, 2003, however, the
violin was delivered and on loan to violinist Alexander Barantschik,
concertmaster for the San Francisco Symphony to be played by him at an
upcoming event.

Officially the violin is in the custody and care of the FINE ARTS
MUSEUMS OF SAN FRANCISCO” http://www.thinker.org/

Presently, it is in the custody of Alexander Barantschik, of the San
Francisco Symphony and is being kept at an undisclosed location
pending its temporary use and eventual safe return.

I hope you find that that my research exceeds your expectations. If
you have any questions about my research please post a clarification

final comments and I look forward to working with you again in the
near future. Thank you for bringing your question to us.
