I am looking for a way to locate a old song for my Mother's funernal
in two days. It is Harbor Lights by Francis Langford. She was
popular in the 40's. I have had no luck finding it. Can you help.

I've found sources where you can purchase either a CD or a 78 rpm
record of Frances Langford's "Harbor Lights," but am concerned that
even if you order immediately, you would be unlikely to be obtain your
music in two days.

I have also located four different versions of the song that you can
download for free. These versions are performed by Elvis Presley, The
Platters, Sammy Kaye, and Hank Steele. The Sammy Kaye and Hank Steele
performances are quite close in style to Frances Langford's version.

Please let me know if your question would be satisfactorily answered
by links to the four online audio files (none of which are by Frances
Langford), and/or links to sites where a CD and a 78 of Frances
Langford's recording can be purchased.

If pinkfreud's suggestion does not work for you -- though I hope it
does -- perhaps the song will be available at a nearby library or
record store.

If you would like for us to look for a library or store, could you
tell us in what area you are located?

I would be happy with the link to the four free sites. Please
highlight the one for Sammy Kaye first since that would be our first
choice. I agree that I will not be albe to get the CD in time for
Friday even if order tonight. Thanks for your help. I am correct in
understanding that you just download these free songs onto a PC or MP3
Player? The funeral home has an MP3 that I can use if that is
correct.

Here are links to the four online versions of "Harbor Lights" that I
mentioned. These are MP3 files that can easily be downloaded and
played back on a PC or an MP3 player.

Harbor Lights - Sammy Kaye (MP3)

Harbor Lights - The Platters (MP3)

Harbor Lights - Hank Steele (MP3)

Harbor Lights - Elvis Presley (MP3)

In case the CD and 78 rpm versions by Frances Langford would be of
interest, here's information on where you can purchase them:

78 rpm for $10.34 or CD "So Many Memories" for $9.54 (both used)
http://gemm.com/q.cgi?rb=JGDB&artist=Frances+Langford

CD "So Many Memories" for $12.98 (new)
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00005B0GR/ref%3Dnosim/jazzdigger-20/002-2120503-0383220#product-details

My search strategy consisted of a Google Web Search using the
keyphrases "harbor lights" and "frances langford". This helped me to
find the CD and 78 recordings. To find the MP3 files, I used the audio
search feature of Altavista.com and AllTheWeb.com.

I hope this is helpful. If any of these links do not work for you, or
if you have any questions, please request clarification; I'll be glad
to offer further assistance before you rate my answer.

Best wishes,
pinkfreud

I've found another online version for you.

Here's an instrumental of "Harbor Lights" by Dale Wygant, featuring
clarinet and accordion:
