I have XP Pro on my Vaio laptop, and XP Home on a home desktop. There
is a difference in how my work folder "look" between these two
systems. On the Pro XP the work folder does this really cool thing-it
breaks up all the different documents therein into groups, based on
their age, titled such things as "last week","two months ago",
"earlier this month", etc.
I often work on my laptop, and then copy the updated files to a USB
drive to transfer them to the home desktop. But, the home XP doesn't
do this, and I can't find this type of option in the drop-down
menus.XP Home does allow me to arrainge files by age, but only in a
straight-line manner, without the nice clear "headers" (Last month,
etc.) of my XP Pro laptop. How do I get my home computer to look the
same as the laptop? Is it possible with the XP Home versions ?

I don't have a computer running XP Home in front of me, but try this:
In the Window you want to sort, Click [View]->[Arrange Icons
By]->[Modified]
Next click [View]->[Arrange Icons By]-> and see if there is an item
labeled [Show In Groups]. If it is there, click this and see if that
gives the result you are looking for.

I verified that this option is in XP Home, but apparently there a bug
that prevents you from using this option if you have the folder
contents displayed as a 'List.' If you make sure to view by 'Icons'
first, the instructions I gave above should work for you.

Here is the Micrsoft Knowledgebase article, for reference:

All you need to do is from Windows Explorer, (not under the folder
area to the left, the file side) right click on the labeled icon "Name
or Date, or When Created" etc. and then you will have all your
selectable menu detail options, as well as the ability to "customize"
your file attribute details seen.
