Hi dustydune,
When I first saw your question, I knew no better person who would know
about this than my brother-in-law. He is general manager of one of the
most prominent exhibition companies in Dubai, and deals with the Gitex
Exhibition. I contacted him with your request and the following is the
reply I received:
GITEX is the Gulf Information & Technology Exhibition and opens on the
19th of October in Dubai. Claimed t be the 5th or 7th biggest IT show
in the world it covers the industry related to the PC industry,
software, hardware, solutions, printers
etc over an area of nearly
20000sqm of exhibitor stands with all the world famous brands like
Microsoft, Dell, Oracle, Sony, Acer
.. you name it.
I cannot see the relevance between Gitex and Conference and events
related to travel. You can check the Gitex official web site:
http://www.gitex.com/main.html.
There you will find the list of exhibitors and I believe the list of
services that these company can offer (under Exhibitor Services).
Perhaps some companies that develop or promote software might have
something on Travel.
However I think Gitex is the wrong show as a very popular exhibition
related to travel is called Arabian Travel Market and that is
scheduled for May 2004 in Dubai. This show includes hotels, travel
Agencies, tourism boards of countries, rent a car and other companies
including companies that develop travel solutions and on line
reservations, bookings etc. This show (the ATM as we call it) runs
parallel seminars to the exhibition.
The official web site is:
http://www.arabiantravelmarket.co.uk/App/homepage.cfm?moduleid=1181&appname=100238
This site highlights ATM 2004, but as the show is over 9 months away
will not have the exhibitors list or services or planned seminars.
Nevertheless check the main events of 2003 and the list of exhibitors
as most likely the majority is repeat exhibitors. You can also access
the show organizers site (Reed Travel Exhibitions) as they organize a
number of travel shows worldwide.
As he suggested, I searched the Gitex site, and indeed you can access
the list of confirmed exhibitors for 2003:
http://www.gitex.com/exhibitors/list.html
The following page lets you search for exhibitors by:
Exhibitor Name
Hall no.
Country
Product Category
http://www.gitex.com/exhibitors/index.html
I hope this is information is helpful. If you have any questions
regarding my answer please don't hesitate to ask before rating it.
Best regards,
