I believe I have read that it is not uncommon for corporate executives
to "bury" a new product idea they think will reduce the sales of
another product they own or do significant harm to some other aspect
of their business. The new product idea is offered to the company as
an unsolicited idea or the company's own R&D Department discovers the
idea and the corporate executives decide to "bury" it. My question: I
am particuarlly interested in two things: a list of previously
"buried" "consumer product" ideas that somehow came to light and are
now products in use today. What company initially buried the idea?
Why? How did the idea come to light? Who brought it out in the open?
Note, I am only interested in "consumer product" ideas that were
initially buried. My second question: please provide search tips that
will enable me to further research your answer. Thanks in advance.
