I want to buy a generator for less than $2k, ($1k even better! :-),
)that will produce power at a fuel cost of less than 31cents kw/hr, to
run a 1.5hp pump. Ideally a lot less than 31cents. I'd swop a higher
purchase price for a lower fuel cost within reason. Please no links
to pump information without checking if it meets the criteria.
Thanks!

Howdy headsetsdotcom!

A few questions for you, if you don't mind.

- Do you have a starting/running wattage for the pump?
- Did you mean 31 cents per hour fuel cost, instead of 31 cents kw/hr?

Depending on the starting/running wattage, I have probably found solutions
for under $2000 and maybe as low as 24 cents per hour fuel cost.

Thanks! denco-ga

Denco, the pump is 1.5hp. I don't know how that translates into
watts, but it's the biggest single power draw in the house.

Fuel cost - 31cents to generate each kilowatt of power.

Does this answer what you need?

Howdy headsetsdotcom,

If you could check out the two following generators to
see if I am going in the right direction, that would be
appreciated. Also, are you willing to go the used or
auction (or both) route? Will the generator need to run
continously, or will it be used just occasionally?

GENERATOR E3750MYHDI, 4000 WATT, 6.7 HP YANMAR
http://pwmall.com/detail.aspx?ID=2125

"Fuel Type: Diesel • Fuel Tank Capacity: 0.8 Gal.
Consumption at ¾ load: 0.20 • Run time ¾ load: 3.9 Hours
...
** Free Freight - Lower 48 States ** $1,749.00"

The above would cost around 29 cents to run for an hour,
for a cost of under 8 cents kw/hr. This assumes a ¾
load, so the actual cost would probably be less.

3KW DIESEL GENERATOR SET
http://www.bitterrootsolar.com/generator/hanziman.htm

"Model# MODEL DPE-3-BS
Fuel Consumption: 6 Hours/Gallon on full load.
Generator: Single Phase, 60 Hz,230 / 115 V 1800 RPM.
13Amp at 230/240V -26AMP at 115/120V
$1600 Sale Price $1440.00"

The above would cost around 24 cents an hour to run,
with a kw/hr costing around 8 cents. Again, as the
load would probably be less than a full load, actual
run cost would be less as well.

Thanks! denco-ga
