I am having a strange problem with WindowsXP.

When using the file dialog box when opening or saving a file, the file
listing appears in reverse - sorted by z-a. While I know that I can
change the sorting by changing the view to "Details" and clicking the
"Name" header, the next time I use the dialog box, it reverts back.
Somehow this became the default view and I am unable to change it.

I should note that this hasn't always been this way and somehow this
recently became the default.

Any help is appreciated.

Hello, kindatechnical:

You have this problem because you have configured the Windows File
Explorer to show all browse windows that way, don't worry, solution
it's easy, it's just to perform the same steps backwards:

-Open a directory in the File Explorer, for example C:\
-Now, click on the Header tab, called Name, until you see the right
ordering
-It's possible that the ordering it's already ok, but don't worry,
just be sure, the ordering it's what you want
-Select the Tools command from the menu and now Folder Options
  -A dialog will be shown
-Select the View tab and click in the button called Apply to all
folders
  -Answer Yes to the question

This will save the same configuration for all windows, including Open
and Save dialogs.

This is a technical support answer, you can have different
configurations from the default one or maybe your problem must be
solved in another way, so if the solution I have posted doesn't work
for you, please, don't hesitate to request for a clarification, I will
keep on investigating until you solve this problem.

Regards.
