Hi researchers,
I am looking for three things here:

1. the development of American welfare system. provide some data such
as how many people benefit from the welfare in each year.

2. list some points which support welfare. list some statements that
oppose welfare.

3. some discussion said that welfare is good And it does not violate
individualism.

I need this info before October 1, 2003

Thanks

As to your 3rd point, I had a professor in grad school who was the
executive director of a not for profit organization and she very much
believed in adhering to and living by an organization's mission
statement and so forth. The ogranization defined "self-sufficiency" as
being able to take advantage of available resources (which is quite
different comparatively than the more conservative and commonly-used
definition). By this definition, someone on welfare could be viewed as
being "self-sufficient." It is at least an interesting philosophical
point.
