I am looking for information on environmental graphics and their
relationship with road signs. I don't want to know about wall murals,
branding, and signage. This site's definition of environmental
graphics as "the signs and other graphic schemes which help people
locate and understand the services, destinations and activities
available in an area" is the closest to what I am interested in. I

Are you referring to signs such as those on interstate highways
reading, "Next Exit--Gas, Food, Lodging," or "State Park Entrance 1000
Feet" or "Caution: Bridge May Ice In Cold Weather," or "Caution: Deer
Crossing" type of signs?

I am referring to signs such as "Hospital, Library, Motel, Restaurant
" etc. Some of them have just the first letter as "H" for hospital but
the sign for library is a graphic of a person reading a book.
