There have been several attempts to provide guidelines for a quickie
read of "Living History." Below I've gathered several that have
appeared online. For reasons of copyright, I cannot post more than a
brief snippet from these articles; to read the entire text, just click
on the link for each site.

Newsday did an excerpt of "The 'Good' Parts" of Hillary's book:

"No need to hit the index. We've found the juicy parts in Hillary
Clinton's "Living History" for those interested only in the personal
history of life with Bill and Monica...oh, is there more to the book?
Just call them Hillnotes."

Slate gave a snappy rundown of "the good stuff":

"If Simon & Schuster really wanted 'Living History' to cover Hillary
Rodham Clinton's $8 million advance, they should have shrink-wrapped
it like Madonna's 'Sex'. Luckily for cheapskate browsers everywhere,
the publisher didn't have that much foresight. Here's a quick guide
for those too smart, too poor, or too impatient to wade through 528
pages just to mine the good stuff."

The Gotham Gazette gave a New York twist to its reader's guide:

"Slate.com recently posted a guide to the book for those who are, "too
smart, too poor, or too impatient to wade through 528 pages just to
mine the good stuff." While Slate's guide points out places like the
seven pages (beginning at page 465) where Bill tells Hillary the truth
about Monica Lewinsky, GothamGazette.com is not so frivolous. We
instead offer this complete guide to the Senator's candid policy
pronouncements vis a vis New York City."

"The Daily Howler" pointed out that some portions of the book are
anything but dull:

"Hillary's book is dull, they've said. Which convinces us- they
haven't read it... Just how boring is Clinton's new book? In fact,
Living History is such a dog that a string of scribes who haven't read
it have been able to discard it as dull!"
