An interesting article at
http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/s943430.htm talks about using
dried beer to make CDs sound different. I'm looking for at least two
other ways one can physically alter a CD disc to either improve the
sound or make it sound different (scratching it so it skips would not
count).

Would would accept as an answer an article on two devices that are
meant to improve CD sound? This article claims that many tweaks and
machines have been tried, but only the two machines elaborated on in
the article are the ones that actually work.

Hi there - thanks for the question, but no, I need to find things like
the beer (i.e. chemical solutions, not devices). It's possible this is
an impossible one... :(

Hello Jhabley,
While waiting for your clarification, I was able to find webpages
mentioning "chemical" means to improve or change CD sound, like
spraying Pledge or polish, etc. Would you like those as an answer?

You bet, those would be great, thanks.

Greetings Jhabley,
These are a few links, though I hope they'll do:

Tweaking CD’s
http://www.tweakaudio.com/Cd%20tweaks.html
- Here is an article mentioning many methods in tweaking CDs to
improve the sound, though it mentions the greening of the edges of the
CD myth.

Audio Tweaks - Tweak Ref. 265
http://www.audiotweaks.com/tweaks/tweak_265.htm
- Here's a reference about spraying Pledge in the air and moving a CD
through the cloud.

Audio Tweaks - Tweak Ref. 342
http://www.audiotweaks.com/tweaks/tweak_342.htm
- Here's another one mentioning Brasso polish.

Article in Adobe PDF - Improving CD sound
http://www.svalander.se/furutech/iar-80rew.pdf
- Mentions two devices: The Audio Desk CD Sound Improver (Germany) and
the Furutech RD-1 Disc Demagnetizer (Japan).

Here are links to the two devices:

These audio tweaks pinch your wallet without aiding your sound

- Here's another page warning you about methods that don't work.

I recommend though using test CDs - such as CD-R copies of your discs
if you can make them - to make sure that the techniques work for you,
otherwise, they might result in nothing or might ruin your discs.

I hope this has been a most helpful answer. If you need anything else,
or have a problem with the answer, do please post a Request for
Clarification and I shall respond as soon as I can. Thank you.

While I haven't found one technique that works, don't believe that
coating the edges of a compact disc with a green marking pen will
improve its sound quality. This has been proven to be an urban myth.

There's a possibility that other techniques you are looking for to
improve CD sound may be urban legends themselves. Be sure to check
urban myth sites like snopes.com to verify them.
